Title: 3D Cadastres and Beyond
The pressures of negotiating an urban environment that is increasingly populated and structurally complex has positioned 3D cadastres as a necessary response to recording, managing and communicating information about the legal extent of property rights, restrictions and responsibilities. However, 3D cadastres have the potential to deliver much more: in the data-rich environment of today’s smart cities, and a shift towards greater collaboration amongst those involved in development and management of the built environment, 3D digital cadastral information offers land registries and the surveying profession new opportunities to engage with the broader community, and in doing so, preserves the relevancy and role of cadastral information as fundamental to all societies. This talk will discuss the strategies and requirements for developing more efficient 3D land and property management and showcasing the 3D cadastre technical platform.
Short Bio: Professor Abbas Rajabifard is Head of the Dept. of Infrastructure Engineering and Director of the Centre for SDIs and Land Administration, both at the University of Melbourne. He is immediate Past-President of Global SDI (GSDI) Association and is an Executive Board member of this Association. Abbas was Vice Chair, Spatially Enabled Government WG of the UN Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific. He has been also consulted widely on land and spatial data policy and management and SDI.

Title: Sensors and Platforms for 3D Cadastres and 3D City Modeling: State of the Art and New Trends
Nowadays, 3D City Modeling is done for a number of applications. The precision of the final 3D City Model
product affects the use of it. High Precision 3D City Models can certainly participate in many precision
application such as Cadastre surveying. The state of the Art sensors and platforms used for high precision
3D city modeling are addressed in detail in this presentation, including integrated sensor systems for
Aerial/Land/Marine high precision sensors, their data acquisition, processing and QA/QC protocols and procedures. Short Bio: Dr. Mostafa currently serves as president at Navmatica ME in Dubai, UAE. Navmatica ME is a wholly owned subsidiary of Navmatica Corporation in Canada focused on Advanced Engineering Consulting including Aerospace, Geomatics, Civil, Electromechanical, Infrastructure, Architectural, Urban Planning and Computer Engineering. Further, He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the American University in Dubai. |
